Good Shepherd takes great pride in the work done to reach out and serve the Greater Springfield community as well as the world community. A list of our recent mission work is listed below:

Habitat for Humanity

Good Shepherd has a covenant relationship with Habitat for Humanity. We are part of ten area churches of all faiths who join together to build homes for low-income families. We recently helped build a home in Springfield.

The Parish Cupboard

This is a local soup kitchen and food pantry that serves West Springfield, Agawam, and Feeding Hills. The West Springfield Parish and Interfaith Association, a coalition of churches founded in 1986, established and supports the Parish Cupboard. Every week, during our weekly Eucharist, we present the food donated by our parishioners on the altar, a symbol of our gifts to the Lord.

The United Thank Offering

Good Shepherd participates in both the Spring and Fall in-gathering. This is a program operated by the national Church.

Narcotics Anonymous

Every Monday night Good Shepherd hosts a meeting of Narcotics Anonymous in Colton Hall.

The CROP Walk

This annual fundraiser, sponsored by Church World Service, always draws a crowd. The purpose of the walk is to raise funds for the hungry of our area. One-quarter of the funds raised benefit the Parish Cupboard while another 25% goes to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

West Springfield Parish and Interfaith Association

This ecumenical group of clergy and lay leaders meets on the first Saturday of every month. Through camaraderie and commitment to its mission, this group coordinates Sunday dinner, two Good Friday daytime services, and the Thanksgiving town-wide ecumenical service. A Christmas Operation Santa, Helping Hands Housing Renovation, Vacation Bible School, and Community Christmas Caroling are a few of the other opportunities available to work with our brothers and sisters of faith.
